Well, there's good news and there's bad news... Sorry about how long the file for yesterday's comic remained broken, in my rush to upload everything last night it appears I forgot to upload the actual image file. Everything should be working fine now. Additionally, thanks everyone for bearing with me through these sporadic updates over the last two weeks. I finally have internet back at my house now, so everything will be returning back to normal update-wise now. However, you''l have noticed that yesterday's comic has far less shading than usual. This is a decision I've been debating for a while, as I've always beleived any changes to the art-style should improve it, not make my life easier, but in the end I feel it's the only real way I can continue doing A Game of Fools at this pace. While it is possible (just) for me to crank out two fully shaded comics a week, between that and work I'm finding I have very little time for much else, and lately it's been resulting in me cutting corners - hastily sketching out the line-art, relying far too much and copy and paste and rushing the scripts. That last point in particular is one of the main reasons for this desicion, as I haven't been able to put nearly as much time as I should have into the writing side of things lately, and I haven't been completely satisfied with the quality of a lot of the recent scripts and jokes (and, to be honest, I feel that's the most important part). As a result, from now on there will be a lot less shading than previously - it won't disapear completely, but the amount there is will be very dependant on how much time I have to devote per comic and how needed it is narrative-wise (so there will most likely be more in a comic that's meant to be very action-packed or atmospheric than something that's just people standing around talking). That said, as a way of, I guess, making up for this drop of quality, I've decided that every so often there will be an extra comic per week. This is mainly so that I can keep things moving somewhat (I realised to my dismay that this current storyline has been going on for almost three months now), as lately it feels like things have been moving at a snail's pace. My initial plans were always for A Game of Fools to have a three day a week update schedule, and even after switching to two a week I always hoped I'd eventually be able to go back - much fo the future storylines and the general structure of the main alien arc requires more updates per week to be told at any sort of bearable pace. As that isn't really possibly at the moment I figured this is the next best thing. I'm not sure how often I'll be able to post an extra comic (I'm aiming for about once every three weeks or so at the moment) and it most likely be rather more simplistic art-wise than the scheduled updates. |
