The Joys of Cleaning I think the sun and light in general must be conspiring against me to ensure that nothing I try to clean ends up completely clean. As you may have guessed, cleaning is not one of my strongest areas. The main problem is I have an appaling attention to detail. In particular, I seem to have a hard time distinguishing between dirt and tricks of light (or natural colourings of floor tiles for that matter). This results in activities like mopping becoming a very time consuming experience, particularly when you take into account the fact that due to the way the sun reflects on water, depending on where I'm standing in the room it's often hard for me to tell which parts of the room I've mopped and which I haven't (of course this probably also comes down to a horrible short-term memory and general absent mindedness). This reached it's nadir late last year when we moved out of our last place and had to clean all the walls. Every ten minutes or so I'd notice one of two things - either that I'd missed an incredibly obvious mark and had to redo that part, or I'd see a trick of the light which I assumed was a mark, reach for the scrubber, and then look to see it had disapeared. I find I'll sometimes spend ages trying to remove a mark that turns out to be a natural part of the tile, and then somehow completely miss other patches of actual dirt. In the end, it results in most cleaning taking longer than it should, and still not being as thorough as it should be. Fun times... Anyway, added a few little things to the site today. As you can see, I now have a hit counter at the bottom. Does anyone even use hit counters anymore? Or is there a far simpler way to work out how much traffic your website is getting that doesn't look quite so... amateur. |
