Looking For An Artist As I stated back in the first newspost, drawing this webcomic was always planned to be a temporary thing, and eventually I'd hand over the drawing duties to someone else and focus entirely on writing. Well, that time has come. Since I've started this comic (about two months a bit months ago), I've basically been writing and drawing this comic as if I've been on a three strip a week schedule, even though it only went online just over a week ago. On the whole, I've been able to keep to the schedule, with a slip or two (although in all fairness I started actually planning and writing the comic a bit earlier). However, in this time I have also been on my university holidays, and therefore with a lot more spare time then I generally have. In about a week I start university again, and between that and work I'll have far less time to devote to this webcomic and there is no way I'd be able keep to this schedule without either the art or writing (or both) suffering. Furthermore, I've always considered myself a writer, not an artist. I love writing, it is something I really enjoy doing and I can devote endless amounts of time to it. Drawing is something I... don't enjoy. I find ittedious and stressful, and I'm not particularly good at it. I had never planned to do the art for this comic originally, and while I've been very happy with how it has looked so far (and it looks far better than I ever could have expected), I think it could just look so much better and I particularly want to get away from this copy and paste style. I'd rather the art be in the hands of someone who loves drawing, and has the motivation to improve and hone his or her drawing style (which I do not), so I can focus on making the writing and jokes as good as they can be. So, if anyone is interested in doing the art for this comic, please contact me at asha.leu@hotmail.com, with a small sample of some art that you have done attached. I'm looking for a cartoony sort of style, doesn't have to be that similar to the current art, as long as the characters are recognisable enough - I'm open to people bringing their own style and look to it. You'd have to able to keep up with a three day a week update schedule - the occasional slip is fine, obviously real life takes precedent over a small webcomic (which is the whole reason I have a strip buffer), but I'd prefer it to not be a regular thing. I obviously can't pay you for this, as I'm a university student who isn't making a cent from this comic, though if by some stroke of fate this does end up becoming one of the few webcomics that is financially successful then I'd consider you my partner/equal/whatever the legal term is in regards to profits, etc. |
