The Nature of Obscurity I didn't think it was possible, but my abilities as an artist seem to have gotten even worse since Danielle took over. Today's comic is one I had been pretty unsure about for a while, mainly because much of the humor relies on obscure references that I'd assume most of the people reading this wouldn't get. I tend to shy away from reference humor usually, I'd prefer to reach a broader audience and not have a lot of strips that people have to be members of a certain fandom to understand. However, I always thought this one was pretty amusing when I wrote it a while ago (though I may have been rather drunk at the time, who knows), and an interesting little look at the repurcussions of Joey's interrogation back in #20, and in the end it's not like I do many of these anyway and it serves as a nice little easter egg of sorts for people who are Doctor Who fans. I did try to write it so that it's at least amusing to non Who fans, but whether I not I actually pulled thatoff is another matter. For those who have absolutely no idea what is going on, this the man in the final two panels, and this is the character he's most well known for playing (the Fifth incarnation of the Doctor, to be precise). |
